Design to Value - our driving principle

We need to keep things simple as we work out how to achieve our goals, and the meaning of digital twin is simply a digital representation of a real thing.. Now, by real, we don’t necessarily mean physical.

Every project starts with a brief, of course.A clear brief allows for the design to be checked continuously as it evolves.

Design to Value - our driving principle

Our approach to developing a brief is to place it firmly in the context of being a part of the process which ends with a fully functioning hospital. The brief cannot – or should not – exist in splendid isolation. It must take into account the massing of the hospital, the plant and M&E requirements, servicing facilities, the extent and location of the car parks.

Design to Value - our driving principle

In our minds, the brief is intrinsically linked to the construction strategy. It is intrinsically linked to the overall feasibility of the building.. We are an integrated company, with multi-disciplinary teams working across all our projects from the earliest stages.

Design to Value - our driving principle

We have a strong background in technology, engineering and construction.

The result of this is that we do not need to design to approximations and allowances – we can be precise from the outset.. Design from the inside out. These hierarchies define the roadmap to achieve good and best practice performance targets defined by bodies such as LETI, RIBA or GLA.

An essential part of the hierarchy, and one of the key focuses of Bryden Wood’s design approach is DfMA, which enables substantial embodied carbon reduction and creates synergies to further reduce operational carbon. The implementation of DfMA combined with energy efficiency measures, specification of low carbon materials and carbon offset measures is the proposed pathway to the delivery of successful net zero carbon buildings.. Where is the value in ‘construction technology’, ‘generative design’ or ‘automation in construction’?With design automation and construction tech set to transform the industry, where does the Creative Technologies team at Bryden Wood fit in?
